RADyouth :: boys + girls grades K-12
A movement that is inspiring and empowering youth to become healthy, happy, wholehearted leaders and change makers through movement, mindfulness and mentorship.
This Fall we are shaking things up and making room for growth + progress! Our programs are being up-leveled and we can't WAIT to share all the new stuff we've got planned!
We have decided to base the classes around 12 themes that we think are VITAL for youth to learn about in this modern, ever changing world.
Weekly themes include:
Healthy relationships + friendships
Creating and maintaining boundaries
Social Media responsibility
Within all of these ideas/themes, we incorporate yoga, journaling, progressive meditation, conversation, games + activities, and MORE! It's proven that kids (and adults) learn better and retain more information through having FUN while learning, so that's why we are excited to have these themes to play within them, and learn in a way that doesn't feel like another hour and a half of school! We have a very special way of making these HUGE + SERIOUS topics fun for the kids to learn, and we talk about them in ways that make sense for every age.
We know people either LOVE or HATE journaling. This isn't structured journaling that we're talking about though. We want all the kids to have fun in these classes, directed journaling is designed to give them a space to reflect on the topic(s) we've covered each class, whether that's writing one word, a story, a paragraph, a poem or song; drawing, or anything else, these PRIVATE journals play a key role in getting kids to open up + reflect to themselves about their day, what they've learned, or whatever they need to get out of their head, and onto paper.
The benefits of meditation are almost endless, but we know it's not a kids favourite thing to do. We don't expect a child/teen to come into this class being able to meditate for 20 minutes, most adults can't even sit that long! We are going to be working our way up, and seeing how long we can meditate for throughout these 12 weeks, as a challenge to ourselves, and to give ourselves another chance to reflect on whats happening in our lives!
Being a kid is amazing. It's fun, wild, chaos-filled, and full of events that shape us into who we become as adults. Sometimes it can seem like we grow up and have missed out on learning fundamental aspects of life, and ways that we could have made our lives easier as we look back on them. All we want, (and we know you want as well) is for your kids to live the happiest, healthiest, joy-filled lives they can.
If you've ever had a kid in one of our RADgirls or RADyouth programs before, I'm sure you've seen the growth, change, and self-acceptance grow within your loved littles. We're challenging ourselves to see if we can help the kids of GP grow EVEN MORE!
